Killie’s Struggles Set to Continue with a Home Draw
Kilmarnock haven’t had the best of starts to the 2024/25 season, and their hunt for that first victory might just be put on hold again when they welcome Norwegian side Tromso to Rugby Park this Thursday.
Killie’s league opener was a tough one, as they were hammered 4-0 by reigning champions Celtic. Their Europa League qualifying campaign didn’t fare much better, ending in a 2-1 aggregate defeat to Cercle Brugge.
Tromso, on the other hand, aren’t exactly flying high either, sitting just a point above the relegation zone in the Eliteserien. That said, they’ve been pretty resilient of late, losing just one of their last five matches in all competitions and keeping clean sheets in four of those games.
Kilmarnock only managed a draw in their last home European fixture, and a similar outcome could be on the cards here, given Tromso’s solid defence. Considering each of Tromso’s last five games have all gone under 2.5 goals, a low-scoring match seems likely in East Ayrshire. A 1-1 draw might just be the safest bet.
