What Is bet365’s 99 Royale, and Does Playing Against Other People Change the Maths?
bet365’s new multiplayer slot puts up to 99 people in the same live game, with only the last few left sharing a prize. We explain how it works and what does and doesn’t change compared with an ordinary slot.
| What it is | A multiplayer slot: “battle royale meets slots” |
|---|---|
| Where | Slots section of the bet365 app and website, UK and Ireland |
| Players per battle | 8 to 99 real players (no bots) |
| Launch games | Ragnarok, Ra the King, Cherry Blossom |
| Partner | G Games |
| How you win | Normal slot wins as you play, plus a share of the battle prize if you finish high enough |
18+. UK and Ireland customers only. Real-money game: stakes are lost on losing spins. Prize shares depend on finishing position and contribution to the prize pool, and are not guaranteed. Slot stake limits apply in Great Britain. T&Cs apply. Please play responsibly. BeGambleAware.org. #AD
The battle format changes what you see on screen, but not the maths of each spin. Wins, attack power and random prizes are all decided by a random number generator. Choosing who to attack is a tactical-looking decision, but it can’t make a losing spin win.
How does a 99 Royale battle actually work?
- Join a battle. Press play in the 99 Royale lobby and you’re put in a queue. A battle starts when enough players join, from 8 up to 99, and you can spin the single-player version while you wait.
- Spin the slot. Every battle uses one slot game. Wins are paid to your account as normal, and part of each win also goes into the battle prize.
- Build power. Winning spins fill an attack meter. How much power you get is decided at random.
- Attack. Pick a target: the leaderboard leader, whoever attacked you, a player near the bottom, or someone at random. Attacks can knock players out.
- Finish in the money. When the battle ends, the last players standing share the battle prize. Your share depends on your finishing position and how much your wins added to the pot.
Battles can’t be paused. If you disconnect you can still be knocked out, though wins you’ve already had stay in your account.
What are your chances of sharing the prize?
Only a minority of players in each battle finish in the prize places. Another operator’s published rules for the same game say the top 15 of 99 players are “in the money”, and the top 2 in a 10-player battle. On those numbers, around 15% to 20% of players share the battle prize. The rest leave with only whatever their spins paid along the way.
The rules also say your chance of winning on each spin doesn’t depend on how much you stake. A bigger stake changes the size of your wins and your contribution to the pot, not the odds.
Does the multiplayer element change anything?
It changes the experience more than the outcome. Watching a leaderboard and choosing targets feels involving, and that’s the appeal. But there are things to be aware of.
| What changes | You’re ranked against real people, there’s a shared prize pot, and there are side missions such as Loot Crates, a large prize won at random |
|---|---|
| What doesn’t | Every spin is random, the house still has an edge, and stakes on losing spins are lost |
| What to watch | Play is continuous and can’t be paused, and competing against others can make it harder to stop at your limit |
A genuinely new format, with the same maths
99 Royale is the most interesting change to online slots in a while, and the real-player, no-bots design is a plus. But the battle wrapping doesn’t turn a game of chance into a game of skill. Most players in any battle won’t share the prize.
If you try it, treat it as paid entertainment: set a budget and a time limit first, and stop when either runs out.

99 Royale: your questions answered
Am I playing against real people or bots?
Real people. The game’s published rules say there are no bots, so a battle can’t start without enough players.
Does choosing who to attack improve my chances?
Not of winning any spin. Wins and attack power are decided by a random number generator. Your choice of target affects who you knock out, not whether your spins pay.
Do I keep my winnings if I’m knocked out?
Yes. Slot wins are paid to your account as you go. Being knocked out only ends your chance of sharing the battle prize.
Can I pause a battle?
No. Once a battle starts it keeps going until it ends, so only join when you have the time and budget to see it through.
Safer gambling
Slots are fast, and competing live against other people can make it harder to walk away. Set a deposit limit and a time limit before you start, don’t chase losses, and don’t play when you’re stressed, upset or have been drinking. Gambling should be entertainment, never a way to make money.
