Scotland Inches Closer to Euro 2024

Scotland is on the brink of qualifying for Euro 2024, with excitement in the air as fans anticipate celebrating in Germany. However, a formidable challenge awaits as they need to secure a point against a rejuvenated Spanish team in Seville to confirm their spot.

After a surprising 2-0 defeat to Scotland at Hampden in March, Spain, led by Luis de la Fuente, has bounced back fiercely. They clinched the Nations League title by defeating both Italy and Croatia and scored a combined 13 goals in their recent matches against Georgia and Cyprus.

But the Spaniards are playing catch-up in Group A. Scotland impressively holds a flawless record with five victories from their five matches. The Scottish side, under Steve Clarke, secured a critical 2-1 win in Norway. Yet, given Scotland’s history, fans nervously wondered if they might slip up. However, this Scottish team seems different. They braved challenging conditions at Hampden to beat Georgia and later secured a dominant 3-0 win over Cyprus, with Scott McTominay making a notable impact.

Despite this, a friendly match against England in Glasgow for the SFA’s 150th anniversary served as a wake-up call. England, with Harry Kane netting a key goal, took a comfortable 3-1 victory.

The challenge ahead is immense. Competing with Spain in Seville is an entirely different ball game compared to defeating them at home.

Spain is expectedly the favourite, given their comeback, with odds of 2/7 for a Spanish victory. Scotland’s chances stand at 11/1.

Previous Encounters Scotland’s unexpected win at Hampden has solidified their decent track record against the Spanish team. The Spaniards hold six wins to Scotland’s five, with two games ending in a draw. On Spanish soil, Scotland has clinched two victories, one being a remarkable 6-2 win back in 1963.

Alvaro Morata is on fire, scoring a hat-trick against Georgia and also showing excellent form for Atletico Madrid. He’s a 5/6 pick with Bet365 to score, but those betting on him to score first can get odds of 3/1.

On the Scottish side, Scott McTominay stands out. He’s been a revelation in the Euro qualifiers, with six goals from midfield. Fresh from a stellar performance for Manchester United, he’s pegged at 8/1 to score during the match.
