Sevilla v Roma Final Betting Preview

The stage is set in Budapest for a thrilling encounter between Sevilla and Roma on Wednesday. The tie presents a clash between the competition’s most successful club, Sevilla, and Roma, who are managed by the most triumphant manager in the tournament’s history.

Despite both teams failing to meet expectations this season, they have shown resilience and tenacity on the European front. Sevilla, the record holders with six previous victories, are aiming to clinch the cup for an unprecedented seventh time. However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for them, as they flirted with relegation earlier in the season.

Following a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid recently, Sevilla now sits tenth in La Liga. Nonetheless, the team’s fortunes have turned around since the appointment of Jose Luis Mendilibar in February. The Spanish side managed to knock out both Manchester United and Juventus on their way to the final, boasting an undefeated record in Europa League finals dating back to 2006.

Yet, the challenge doesn’t end with Roma, who recently lost their chance at a Serie A top-four finish due to a defeat against Fiorentina. The Roman side is powered by Jose Mourinho, a force to be reckoned with. Mourinho is eyeing his third Europa League victory with a third different club, having previously won with Porto and Manchester United. His decorated career includes winning the Champions League with Porto and Inter Milan, and the Europa Conference League with Roma last season.

Paulo Dybala’s potential absence due to injury casts a shadow over Roma’s chances, which may force them to use him sparingly.

In terms of betting odds, Sevilla is slightly favored, with odds of 7/4 on bet365. Roma is a close second at 19/10, while a draw stands at 21/10.

These clubs have faced each other only once before in a single-leg UEFA Europa League round of 16 tie, where Sevilla emerged victorious 2-0 against Roma in Duisburg, propelling them to their 2019/20 trophy success.

Europa League Betting Tips

In terms of players to keep an eye on, Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri is the one to watch with his season’s tally of 22 goals. Betway is offering 15/8 odds for him to score anytime. For Roma, with Dybala’s participation uncertain, Stephan El Shaarawy could emerge as their key player. Despite suffering a minor injury scare last weekend, he has scored in his last three matches and is listed at 23/5 to score anytime with Bet365.
