Two of the Premier League’s form sides go head-to-head on Saturday as Arsenal head to Villa Park looking to protect their position at the top of the table.
Mikel Arteta’s men are unbeaten since the early weeks of the season and arrive with serious momentum behind them. But Villa have been just as impressive, particularly at home, where eight consecutive victories highlight the strength of Emery’s project. With both teams in outstanding touch, this early kick-off promises entertainment.
Goals look the sensible starting point from a betting perspective. Over 2.5 goals stands out at the prices, especially as Villa have seen the line passed in four of their last five games, and Arsenal have shown similar trends. The Gunners have found the net in every game since August bar one, yet their defensive solidity hasn’t always travelled well — five of their seven league goals conceded have come away from the Emirates.
Villa’s midweek win at Brighton, where they overturned a 2–0 deficit to win 4–3, showed their attacking quality remains high. They’ve scored in 14 of their last 15 games and should have enough to trouble an Arsenal defence that hasn’t always looked watertight recently.
A draw certainly isn’t out of the question, particularly with Arsenal recording score draws in their last two Premier League away matches. A 2–2 result feels plausible given the goal threat on both sides and the styles on display.
Ollie Watkins is also worth considering in the anytime goalscorer market. His double at Brighton may signal a return to form, and he already has previous against the Gunners after scoring in this fixture last season.
